Job Description

Pay Range: $23.66 - $29.57/hour

Under the direction of People Development (PD) Management, provides a broad range of People Development services in line with business objectives, strategic goals and PD initiatives. The primary focus is to support the following PD functions: Performance Management, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations and PD projects. Serves as a business partner assisting team members and leaders with understanding and application of PD tools, resources, systems, policies and processes in order to maximize team member performance, achieve organizational effectiveness, improve team member engagement, and ensure legal compliance. Extracts and compiles data to generate reports and assists with review, analysis, audit and validation. Prepares and maintains PD employment and other files, system records and information, and other administrative and clerical duties. Acts as back up support for other PD functions as needed. This role helps to ensure that People Development's operations maintain proper service levels, align with organizational strategy and objectives, and stay in compliance with internal standards, procedures and applicable law.

 Responsibilities:

  • Handles leadership, team member and third-party inquiries regarding organizational policies, procedures and PD related compliance. Understands organizational goals and initiatives, standards/policies, procedures and workforce compliance obligations and its application to people related processes Stays up-to-date with Federal and State employment related laws and monitors external human resources activities and trends. Communicates findings and ensures compliance to established procedures, standards/policies and applicable legal requirements. Assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Performance Management (PM) – Serves as an administrator of our PM System, programs and processes. Primary contact for end-user inquiries and issues. Creates and updates users and system setups as needed. Responsible for keeping up-to-date on periodic system releases and new functionality, identifying impacts and recommending course(s) of action for implementation. Assists with research, testing and design of PM programs, system, tools and processes. Assists with administration and tracking of annual goal and performance evaluation processes.
  • Compensation – Participates in the administration of our compensation programs, system and processes. This includes working with leadership to create/revise job descriptions for evaluation, completing salary surveys and assisting with the annual merit process. Stays abreast of related federal, state and local city compliance and assists with application/implementation.
  • Benefits – Assists with facilitating and conducting New Hire Benefits Orientation, monthly billing, G/L Reconciliation and administration of Service Awards.
  • Employee Relations (ER)– Will assist with research and data gathering in support of ER inquiries/issues.
  • Responsible for review and audit of PD related data including but not limited to Payroll, commissions, other compensation related data, benefits, HRIS information, etc.
  • Conducts research, compiles data and generates reports. Assists with evaluating and analyzing data, identifying and clearly communicating findings such as trends/anomalies. Assists with special People Development related projects and assignments.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support including maintaining and monitoring records/systems (e.g., HRIS, Benefits, Performance Management and Compensation) distributing mail, filing, archiving, logging and tracking information, and coordinating PD related events/activities.
  • Back up support for other PD functions as needed (e.g., payroll and recruiting).

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years directly related and progressive work experience within Human Resources (with at least 3 years HR Generalist Experience including benefits, compensation, performance management, employee relations and project management).
  • Experience using Paycom and Cornerstone as an administrator is preferred.
  • Payroll and recruiting experience and related systems experience is also preferred.
  • Strong understanding of human resources concepts and practices as well as thorough knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws (including, but not limited to California).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate well and convey clear messages to various audiences. Must have strong interpersonal skills using tact, diplomacy, patience and courtesy with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated willingness to go the extra mile is a requirement.
  • Must be able to analyze and assess various situations/needs, identify potential impacts, and proactively research, address and/or recommend solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent additional work experience in Human Resources Management is required.
  • HR Certification such as PHR, SPHR or CCP is preferred.
