Job Description

Pay Range:$18.81-$23.51 Hourly

This position is responsible for the timely collection of delinquent accounts. Works within the established department procedures to ensure that the credit union’s delinquency and charge off ratio is within parameters established by management. Adds value to the credit union by reviewing delinquent accounts and taking the appropriate action necessary to insure the credit union receives payments. Appropriate action taken at the appropriate time reduces credit union losses.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and performs effective collection actions on delinquent consumer, real estate and negative share accounts by following credit union policy, procedures and applicable state and federal laws including FDCPA.
  • Performs effective collection actions on delinquent accounts prior to taking legal action. Assigns vehicles for repossession as necessary and follows through on the sale of repossessed vehicles to ensure that all proper notices are mailed to members in a timely manner.
  • Conducts skip tracing to locate members as necessary.
  • Reviews, recommends or approves consumer and real estate related loan modifications following credit union policy and procedures.
  • Takes necessary action to file legal action including small claims and represents the credit union in court.
  • Maintains and works all bankruptcy accounts through to completion.
  • Assists Director, Supervisor or Team Lead in training of new department personnel.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must possess 1-3 years of hands on collection experience dealing with real estate, secured and unsecured loans. Collections experience in a Credit Union or Bank is preferred.
  • Must have a strong background in bankruptcy laws, foreclosures, repossessions and full knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft office products including: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Formal education in business administration or related fields is preferred.
